Training Course: Maritime Operations, Claims and Chartering (48 hours)

Operations 1  (4 hours)

· Issuance of voyage instructions

· Issuance of safe cargo loading instructions & Port requirements

· Management of Standard Operational Documents

· NOR, SOF, Tally sheets

· Operation department communication with Charterers, third parties

· Operations department interaction with other departments.

· Operation department’s evaluation of Master/Chief Engineer for operational matters

Operations 2 (4 hours) 

· Bills of lading, Mates receipt 

· Original BL/s – cargo release order

· Delivery of Cargo Without Bills of Lading - LOI

· Various LOI

· Letter of Protests - warning letters

Operations 3 (8 hours) – Saturday)

· Cargo plan checking & review 

· Various cargo calculations

· Grain, Coal, Steel products and Timber carriage

· Loading / discharging sequence checking & review

· Cargo hold preparations / cleaning for various cargoes (chemicals)

· Hatch-cover Hose test – tests before loading

· Draft Survey

Operations 4 (4 hours) 

· Off Hire periods & bunker overconsumption records

· Cargo Hold Ventilation (monitoring & reporting to charterers)

· Fumigation of Bulk Cargoes- Recommendations for Prevention of Accidents 

· Gas detectors & temperature monitoring

· Responsibility for Stevedores 

· Stevedore damages management (cargo – ship – equipment)

Operations 5 (4 hours) 

· Agency, Proforma Port Disbursements (negotiation, advance payment & collection) and Husbandry Expenses 

· Draught Survey and Marine Hydrometers 

· Unsafe Port/Berth and/or Anchorage 

· Ship’s Cargo Gear and Lifting Appliances 

· Safe Mooring Operation 

· Enoa/d, AGM requirements

· Tugboat appointment, contracts, discounts & invoices

Container-ships Operation (4 hours) 

· Cargo plans checking

· Reefer loading and monitoring at sea

· Performance monitoring – bunkers consumption

Marine Insurance & Claims (8 hours) - Saturday

· Claims (Pandi – HM) Handling from OPS

· Collection of disputed freight / hires

· HRA transit insurance and reporting requirements

· Salvage _Practical Issues 

Chartering & Post-fixing (8 hours) - Saturday

· Chartering process

· Hire statements – Laytime calculation, demurrage / dispatch
